Dell (with Centrino Processors)
To access Dell's power management features
- Click on ‘Start’
- Click on ‘All Programs’
- Click on ‘Dell QuickSet’
- Click on ‘QuickSet’
- Go through the Wizard
Toshiba
To access Toshiba’s power management utilities:
- Click on ‘Start’
- Click on ‘All Programs’
- Select the ‘Toshiba Console’ Group
- Click on ‘Toshiba Console’
- Click on ‘Power Management’
Once in the Toshiba Power Saver Properties, locate the "Running on Batteries" option:
- Double click on ‘Long Life’
- Next click on the ‘Power Save Mode’ tab
- Make sure processor speed is ‘low’
- Make sure monitor brightness is ‘1’
- Leave everything else the same
- Your system will default to long life when unplugged
