Laptop Systems Tips

Dell (with Centrino Processors)

To access Dell's power management features

  • Click on ‘Start’
  • Click on ‘All Programs’
  • Click on ‘Dell QuickSet’
  • Click on ‘QuickSet’
  • Go through the Wizard

Toshiba

To access Toshiba’s power management utilities:

    1. Click on ‘Start’
    2. Click on ‘All Programs’
    3. Select the ‘Toshiba Console’ Group
    4. Click on ‘Toshiba Console’
    5. Click on ‘Power Management’

Once in the Toshiba Power Saver Properties, locate the "Running on Batteries" option:

    • Double click on ‘Long Life’
    • Next click on the ‘Power Save Mode’ tab
    • Make sure processor speed is ‘low’
    • Make sure monitor brightness is ‘1’
    • Leave everything else the same
    • Your system will default to long life when unplugged
