Laptop Setup Guide - For Macintosh Users

It is mandatory that you purchase your laptop and go through this setup guide prior to your first day of class. You will begin using your laptop immediately so it is essential that you are prepared when classes begin. |

| Windows Compatibility Software | You must install Bootcamp, Parallels OR VMWare which will allow you to run Windows software on your Macintosh. See information below for information on obtaining and installing ONLY ONE of these packages: Bootcamp -- comes as part of the Mac OS. Parallels -- separate purchase from UT Computer Store. Allows you to switch from the Mac side to the Windows side without rebooting your system. | Office 2010 Professional Plus (Windows version of Office) | Must be installed under the Bootcamp/Parallels/VMWare partition (whichever you chose). Because the MBA curriculum uses Microsoft Access, you must use this version of Microsoft Office. Microsoft Access is not available in the Office suite for the Macintosh. | Please note: Once you have purchased your software, the UT Computer Store will install Bootcamp/Parallels/VMWare (your choice), Windows 7, Security Essentials Antivirus, Windows updates, Spyware/Adaware, and Office 2010 for a fee of $125. Please contact them by either visiting the store or calling 974-2930 if you wish to have them do this for you. | |
