Company-Issued Laptops
If you anticipate using a company-issued laptop, be aware that you will need administrator priviledges to install software and reconfigure network settings. Be certain by contacting your company's IT department that you have that level of access. If administrator access cannot be granted due to company policies, your choices are to (1) obtain another laptop for your class-related and personal use or (2) purchase a second hard drive for use with your company-issued laptop.
A second hard drive must be:
- 60 GB or greater
- Not external or USB
- Exchangeable with the existing first drive
- Bootable
- Installed with Windows XP Professional with SP2 and office applications before you arrive on campus
If you anticipate doing schoolwork at your office, firewalls and blocked ports may be an issue. Please check with your company's IT department to see if the following ports are blocked. You can test the ports by trying to access the following sites and programs via the Internet using your company-issued laptop.
