9. Recommended single-source configurations

Because the podium technology makes switching sources very convenient, we recommend using the podiums as much as possible.

In particular we recommend the following configurations:

§  Use the podium PC to view PowerPoint slides stored on USB flash drives.

§  Use laptop computers to run statistics or mathematical software.

§  Use the Doc Cam to view paper documents or slides.

10. Annotation

10.1 How to annotate

Select the Annotate button

This brings up the annotation fly-out control bar.

Instructors select the Turn on Annotation button in the annotation fly-out control bar.

Annotation turns on.

Instructors can select the pen color.

Instructors can select the pen thickness.

Instructors can choose Eraser to erase part of the annotation or choose Clear Screen to erase all of the annotation.  They can also freeze the screen by selecting the Freeze Video button.

Note:  selecting  the Freeze Video button shows a still image of an video source but does not affect the source.

The video could be from a PC, DVD, Laptop, Tuner, or IPod/Aux sources.

For example if the instructors choose a medium pen & magenta color and annotate over a Doc Cam image, the screen could look like the image below.

They could annotate over a image of Jack Welch with a blue pen.

They could us the Eraser to erase part of the annotation or select Clear Screen to erase the entire annotation.

10.2 Reasons for annotation.

Annotation is used to underline, highlight or emphasize any thing on the podium screen. Note that tablet PCs that have an annotation feature. When PowerPoint slides are annotated on tablet PCs, the annotation can be saved on the slides.  The podium annotation is on the podium screen and does not affect PowerPoint slides.  Thus, podium annotation leaves the podium sources unchanged.
