Podium Use Guide

6. Sources

The available sources are listed below.

Instructors can use the podium PC, a PC or Macintosh laptop, the podium DVD player, a tuner with satellite channels, and a document camera.

6.1 PC:  The PC source is the podium PC.  It is recommended to use the PC and PowerPoint slides stored in the instructor’s USB flash drive.

The PC is located in the upper right of the podium  (below)

USB flash drives are inserted in the USB slots in the podium PC (below).

6.2 Laptop:    The laptop source is either the instructor’s PC or Macintosh laptop.

A laptop PC is connected to the podium (below).

A laptop Macintosh is connected to the podium (below).

Instructors connect their PC laptops to the podium via a supplied VGA connection. Instructors will need a DVI connection to connect Macintosh laptops to the podium. Email CBAAVHelp@utk.edu or call (865) 974-4600 for Macintosh connection recommendations.

6.3 DVD:  The DVD source makes it very convenient to play DVDS. The DVD is located in the upper left of the podium  (below).

DVDs are controlled from the podium.  The podium DVD controls are below:

The controls are the following: play, stop, back, forward, menu, down curser, up curser, right curser, left curser and select.

6.4 IPod/Aux:  The IPod/Aux source is an audio/video input from IPods, IPhones, and VCRs.

Below is an IPhone connected to the podium.

6.5 Tuner:  The tuner source provides satellite video channels such as Bloomberg TV and CNBC.

Note: the turner is not functioning as of the date of this guide.

6.6 Doc Cam:  The document camera is a very convenient way to view paper notes and documents.  The camera is mounted on the ceiling and projects on the right podium shelf (red area below).
