Master's in Business Analytics student, Haley Hubbard and Head of the Department, Ken Gilbert, quoted in Forbes article.
One of the requirements for the Master's program in Business Analytics at The University of Tennessee is to obtain a summer internship after the first year. Our students have been placed in companies both large and small and the feedback we are getting from their managers is that they are an asset to the company.
"Are Degrees in Big Data a Fad or a Fast Track to Career Success?" is the title of a recent Forbe's magazine article and author J. Maureen Henderson recently asked the following question to Dr. Ken Gilbert and current MSBA student Haley Hubbard.
It's no surprise that both of them said "Fast Track". Recent hiring managers of our students have resoundingly answered in similar fashion. The proof can be see in that we place 100% of our graduates that are actively seeking jobs and the employers come back for more the following years.
Initially our students needed a bit more help finding internships because students with "Big Data" degrees such as Business Analytics were not explicitly being recruited at job fairs, but that is starting to change. We think this is a sign that Business Analytics degrees are here to stay.
