Logistics Program Overview
Thank you for your interest in the Logistics Ph.D. Program.
Dr. Diane Mollenkopf is the director of this program. I would be happy to answer any questions you have about the program, and invite you to explore this website for additional information. If you send me some initial information about yourself (e.g., resume, previous GPAs, GMAT and TOEFL scores, research interests), I can indicate if your present credentials appear to meet the minimum requirement for admission to our program. Further information and requirements are available on the Graduate School website.
The steps to formally apply can be found on the PhD Application Checklist page.
We normally admit two students per year, with the program starting in early August. Competitive applications are welcomed between September and January prior to each admission period. The program is intentionally kept small (with a maximum of eight students at any point in time) to create close interaction with our research focused faculty, and to stimulate cross-functional relationships with students in other majors in the Ph.D. program. It is important to recognize that each year the admission process is highly competitive, and the minimum criteria are a starting point for competitive positioning in the admission process. Our general requirements include:
- MBA or equivalent masters degree
- average masters GPA of the current students in the program is a 3.5
- Highly competitive GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Test) Score
- average score of current students is 635 (ranging from 600-720)
- GRE scores are NOT accepted as a substitute for the GMAT
- Appropriate industry work experience (current students in the program average 8 years of industry experience).
To insure timely review of your credentials, you are encouraged to have all materials submitted (and received) to both the Graduate School and College of Business Administration, including GMAT scores and recommendation letters, by the end of December the year prior to your desired entry year. Our decision process involves a fairly early initial assessment of candidates in order to get to a short list by mid-February each year for the following Fall semester.
Again, thank you for your interest in our program. If you have further questions, you can contact me by e-mail or phone.
