  • The College of Business Awards Banquet was held on April 7th.

       The following Marketing & Logistics people were nominated for          

       awards:
       David Gligor — Ph.D. Teaching Award Finalist
       Mary Holcomb — Keally Teaching Award Finalist
       Ted Stank — Outstanding Researcher Award Finalist
       Dan Flint — Full-Portfolio Faculty Award Finalist
       Jennifer Hicks — Staff Professionalism Award Winner

  • At the 2010 UT Chancellor's Honors, Dan Flint was awarded the Proffitt’s Associate Professor of Marketing.  In the past three years,

    his research has focused on the emerging field of shopper marketing, in which he is quickly becoming a leader.  His creative efforts have resulted in the 2009 launching of UT’s Shopper Marketing Forum,
    which explores contemporary shopper marketing strategies and

        shares that knowledge with students at all levels. The forum has

        brought resources, visibility, and prestige to both the university

        and the College of Business Administration. This is due in no small

        part to Flint’s passion, creativity, and tireless effort.

  •  David Gligor and Chad Autry had their manuscript entitled, "The

        Role of Personal Relationships in Facilitating Supply Chain

        Communications" accepted at the Journal of Supply Chain
        Management.

  • Chad Autry & David Gligor had their manuscript entitled, "The Impact of Buyer Firm Information Connectivity Enablers on Supplier Firm Performance: A Relatinal View," accepted by International Journal of Logistics Management.
  • Chad Autry & Susan Golicic's paper entitled, "Evaluating buyer-supplier relationship-performance spirals: A longitudinal study," is a finalist for the 2010 Best Paper Award published in the Journal of Operations Management.

  • The Univerity of Tennessee, Knoxville's supply chain and logistics graduate program continued its upward trajectoryin U.S. News & World report's 2012 graduate rankings, rising two spots to #10 in the nation and #5 among all public institutions.
  • UT's college of Business Administration's supply chain and logistics graduate program now has been listed among the world's best programs by the publication for six consecutive years.

  • This year’s College of Business awards banquet will be held on April 7th. Three of the Marketing & Logistics faculty members are award finalists.  Dan Flint - finalist for the "Outstanding Scholarship for Teaching, Research, and Service" Award, David Gligor - finalist for the "Graduate Teaching" Award & Mary Holcomb - finalist for the "Outstanding Teacher" Award.

  • Terry Esper joined the esteemed family of the Greater Knoxville Business Journal's "40 under 40".  The "40 under 40" program, now in its fourth year, annually honors 40 individuals younger than 40 years of age for contributions to their professions and community.

  • The Department of Marketing and Logistics in UT Knoxville’s College

    of Business Administration began an annual tradition of recognizing its outstanding faculty through the creation of two new awards.  Mary Holcomb won the inaugural F. Perry and Elaine Ozburn Award for Excellence in Teaching, awarded for exemplary performance in and out of the classroom.  Terry Esper won the inaugural F. Perry and Elaine Ozburn Award for Innovative Research, awarded for innovative and impactful research in support of the department’s strategic initiative and demand/supply integration philosophy. Both awards were made possible through a generous donation by Perry and Elaine Ozburn.

  • Diane Mollenkopf, Rob Frankel and Ivan Russo's article entitled, "Extending Customer Value Theory:  Returns Management at the Marketing-Operations Interface" has been accepted by the Journal of Operations Management.
  • Funda Sahin has been named an Associate Editor for the Decision Sciences Journal.
  • Pratibha Dabholkar and Briand Spaid's conference paper entitled, "Technology-Based Self-Service Failure Attribution," will appear in Recent Advances in Retailing and Services Science, sponsored by the European Institute of Retailing and Services Studies.
  • Pratibaha Dabholkar and Brian Spaid's paper has been accepted at the International Academy of Business and Public Administration Disciplines Conference entitled, "Sources of Trusted Information in the Retail Environment."

  • Terry Esper has been named an Associate Editor for the Journal of Business Logistics.
  • Ted Stank has been named an Associate Editor for the Journal of Business Logistics.  He has also agreed to serve on the editorial review board of the Journal of Operations Management.
  • Chad Autry has been named an Associate Editor for the Journal of Business Logistics.
  • Chad Autry, Stan Griffis and Bill Wilcox's paper, "A Markov Model of Liquidity Effects in reverse Logistics Processes: The Effects of Random Volume and Passage," was accepted by the International Journal of Production Economics.
  • Lisa Ellram, Wendy Tate, and Susan Golicic's paper, "Keep Your Supply Chain Healthy - in Bad Times and Good", has been accepted for publication in the Supply Chain Quarterly and will appear as the cover story in the third quarter 2010 issue.

  • John Bell's article, "Location optimization of strategic alert sites for homeland defense," has been accepted to be published by Omega along with co-authors, Stanley E. Griffis, William A. Cunningham, and Jon A. Eberlan.
  • A Journal of Business article, "The Role of Followers in Supply Chains," written by Cliff Defee (UT PhD), Tom Mentzer, Terry Esper and Ted Stank, has been selected by the CSCMP Board of Directors and awarded the 2010 Bernard J. LaLonde Best Paper Award.

  • Dan Flint and Brian Spaid just received a $5000.00 award from the MSI-ACR Shopper Marketing Research Competitition for their research proposal "The Meaning of Shopping Experiences Augmented by Mobile Internet Devices."
  • Dr. Ernie Cadotte's Marketplace Live Business Simulation received a Brandon Hall Silver Award for Excellence in Learning Technology in the category of Best Advance in 3-D or Immersive Learning Technology.

  • Students in the University of Tennessee's College of Business Administration's Integrated Marketing Communication class, a senior-level marketing elective course, recently worked with Krystal to develop an integrated marketing program to increase sales in the Knoxville area from August through December.  Students John Adams, Kyle Hausle, Andrew Kurganevitch, Anastasia Piakarskaya and Eric Seay, were supervised by Phil Boutin, course instructor and Ph.D. candidate in Marketing. Krystal representatives were Brad Wahl, vice president of marketing, and Howard Curtis, director of product marketing.
  • Teresa McCarthy (UT PhD), Mark Moon, and Tom Mentzer had their article, "Motivating the Industrial Sales Force in the Sales Forecasting Process" accepted at Industrial Marketing Management.
  • Chris Blocker (UT PhD) and co-authors Dan Flint, Matt Myers and Stan Slater had their article, "Proactive Customer Orientation and Its Role for Creating Customer Value in Global Markets", accepted by The Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.
  • Chad Autry has just been named systems editor for the International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management.
  • Terry Esper, Ted Stank, and Rod Thomas (UT PhD) had their article, "Coping with Time Pressure in Interfirm Supply Chain Relationships", accepted at Industrial Marketing Management.

  • Lloyd Rinehart was the recipient of the 2008 Best Associate Editor Award for the Journal of Supply Chain Management which is one of the fastest growing journals in the field.

  • Tom Mentzer's paper "User Influence on the Relationship between Forecast Accuracy, Application and Logistics Performance", co-authored with Carlo Smith, was accepted for publication in the
    Journal of Business Logistics.

  • Mark Moon received the 2009 College of Business Administration Allen H. Keally Outstanding Teacher Award.
  • Monique Ueltschy and Hannah Stolze, Ph.D Candidates in Logistics presented "The Interface of Green, Lean and Global Supply Chain Strategies" at the Midwest DSI conference at Miami University.  The presentation was based on a manuscript co-authored with Wendy Tate and Diane Mollenkopf that is currently under review at International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management.
  • Beth Davis-Sramek (UT PhD), Tom Mentzer and Ted Stank’s paper “Creating Consumer Durable Retailer Customer Loyalty Through Order Fulfillment Service Operations” has been selected as a finalist for the 2008 Best Paper Award for papers published in the Journal of Operations Management.  
  • Serhiy Ponomarov, Ph.D. Candidate in Logistics has been awarded a grant from the Institute for Supply Management to support attendance at the IFPSM 2009 Summer School in Salzburg, Austria. 
  • Terry Esper received the 2009 Chancellor's Honors Excellence in Teaching Award.
  • Prathiba Dabholkar's article "Increasing the Attractiveness of Mass Customization: The Role of Complementary Online Services and Range of Options" co-authored with Benedict G.C. Dellaert has been accepted in the International Journal of Electronic Commerce.
  • The College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has been ranked No. 2 in the world by Transportation Journal for the research done by its Supply Chain/Logistics Faculty.  Department faculty authored or co-authored 24 articles.  UT's ranking in this study supplements international rankings already earned through publications such as U.S. News & World Report, Journal of Business Logistics, BearingPoint Assessment Study and Supply Chain Management Review.
