Financial Support

I/O graduate students at the University of Tennessee typically receive some form of financial support. Because funding sources vary from year to year, financial assistance is not absolutely guaranteed. However, every effort is made to ensure support for each student. In the past, all students who have desired it and who have been eligible for support have received some form of financial support for four years or more.

Most students in the program are supported through the Department of Management as graduate teaching or research assistants. The graduate assistantship carries a competitive stipend and a wavier of all tuition and some fees, including those for the summer session. In addition to the stipend, the assistantship also provides health insurance. The graduate assistantship is a continuing award that is normally renewable for up to 5 years, the typical length of time required to complete the Ph. D. program.

A few students receive scholarships or other types of aid. Information on other sources of graduate funding is available through the Office of Graduate Studies.
