Applying
In this area you will find admission requirements and electronic copies of all forms necessary to complete your application for admission to the Industrial/Organizational Psychology Program at The University of Tennessee. If you prefer paper copies of the application, please request them from Glenda Hurst (ghurst@utk.edu).
Please be sure to read all of the information carefully so that you will know about the admission requirements and to ensure that your application will be processed efficiently.
A few important items to keep in mind include:
1. Students admitted to the program must have successfully completed a year of college mathematics and
one course of undergraduate statistics.
2. Ordinarily, a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.7 is required.
3. Customarily, students admitted to the program have GRE scores at or above the
69-79th percentile on the general tests.
4. A complete application includes
a. one official transcript from each institution previously attended
b. an official report score from the Graduate Record Examination verbal and
quantitative tests
c. a completed Graduate Application for Admission (be sure to apply for a major
in industrial and organizational psychology). Online submission is preferred.
d. a completed application to the I/O Psychology program. Send this directly to
the I/O Psychology Program.
e. three letters of recommendation.
5. The deadline for receiving all application materials is February 1.
6. New students are admitted in the fall term only.
