Undergraduate International Applicants
Applicants for admission to the University as an international student must complete both the International Undergraduate admissions application as well as a financial verification form. Please read the instructions carefully. Submit the forms with all the required documents and the admission fee of $30, and, if you are planning to live on campus, the housing application fee of $15. All materials should be returned to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Click here to access the undergraduate admissions application.
The Office of Undergraduate admissions will evaluate your application and determine whether or not to grant you admission. Once you have been accepted and all required documentation is received, you will receive an I-20 (if you are coming as an F-1 student) or a DS-2019 (if you will be a J-1 Exchange Visitor student (generally for students sponsored by their government or the US government, or coming as part of an exchange program).
If you are already in the U.S., follow the instructions above. You must also take the Immigration Transfer Recommendation Form to your current International Student Advisor. S/he must complete the form and send it to UT. Please pay special attention to the question that asks whether you plan to travel before beginning your studies. If you are traveling, your I-20 will be mailed to you and you should re-enter the United States using the University of Tennessee I-20. If you are not traveling, present your I-20 to the Center for International Education when you arrive on campus. At that time, you will complete the immigration transfer procedure and your I-20 will be given to you.
For more details about this process, visit the Center for International Education.
