International Business and Finance Websites

  • Armchair Economist
This site contains a range of writing on general economics-related topics, although its strength lies in the areas of venture capital, multinational firms and web economics. Some excellent articles from an insider in the industry. Maintained by Chan Hon Wai.
  • Bank for International Settlement
The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is an international organization which fosters international monetary and financial cooperation and serves as a bank for central banks.
  • Brazilian Mercantile and Futures Exchange
Web page of the Brazilian Mercantile and Futures Exchange
  • Canadian Financial Network
The CFN is designed for expediting research on the Canadian market, although the CFN Collection, a well-organised, lengthily-annotated Web directory of over 6,000 financial websites for investors, is most excellent.
  • Country Risk Analysis
Information about individual countries and their respective risk profiles. Maintained at Duke University, and based on a complex system of evaluation.
  • FXall
This is an electronic foreign exchange trading platform that provides forex trade execution, research, and straight through processing. It has on board some major banks, including the Bank of New York, Bank of America and Morgan Stanley. The research area, in particular, is well worth the look. Presently, a free registration is required.
  • Global Investor
Global-Investor provides information and resources to the worldwide financial community
  • International Business Resources on WWW
Established by the Michigan State University Centre for International Business Education and Research. Mainly a portal site, but the links here are truly prolific, organized in an accessible fashion, and well annotated to boot.
  • Oanda Currency Exchange
International Currency and Exchange Rate Information
  • Resources for International Business
Another comprehensive site, this one set up by Rutgers University. Written in a guided style, the various resources are littered as hyperlinks in-text. Very strong in pointing to data sources for both statistics as well as more general qualitative information.
  • VIBES
Virtual International Business and Economic Sources gathers sites arranged according to geographic region, with market analyses for regions as well as country-level reports. Of interest as well are links to areas that are of particular concern for business, such as business practices and marketing.
  • Web Resources for International Business
Contains links to international accounting, international management and international marketing. Set up by Daniel Lee of Shippensburg University, its drawback is that it lacks detailed annotation to almost all the links. The site itself is comprehensive and user-friendly.
  • World Economic Forum
The WEF is possibly the most well-known gathering of policymakers, economists and businesspeople, and the emphasis of the organization is on international economic events, with of course a more pro-business slant in general. The site is well worth a look.
  • World Federation of Exchanges
The World Federation of Exchanges, formerly FIBV - International Federation of Stock Exchanges, is the trade organization for regulated securities and derivative markets, settlement institutions and related clearing houses, and their diverse services to capital markets. The Federation is a private international organization comprised of the operators of the world’s leading markets.
