The Global Business Center

Right Float PhotoThe Global Business Center of East Tennessee is a consortium developed through the partnerships of the U.S. Department of Commerce – Knoxville U.S. Export Assistance Center; the International Trade Center – TSBDC; the University of Tennessee’s Global Business Institute; and eleven other state and regional organizations. The goals of the center are to:

1.) provide area businesses interested in expanding their global reach with programs, resources, and services, and

2.) help keep East Tennessee a competitive force in the global economy by bringing to the area multinational companies and opportunities. The center seeks to accomplish these goals through education, hands-on assistance to local companies, research, and outreach.

The Global Business Center offers a host of specialized education and training programs for business professionals interested in beginning to export their products or services. It also offers conferences on advanced topics for firms interested in expanding their international activities and sales. Future international trade education programs will include our Passport to International Trade seminar series, market briefings, and in depth seminars and workshops dealing with specific international trade issues. Conferences will also focus on topics such as increasing international tourism, international business negotiations, and benefits of the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) for Tennessee exporters.

Other areas of focus will be the development of a Global Business Council and the identification of international internship opportunities for college students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
