MBA International Case Competition

Montreal,2006

Mark Buckingham, Kurt Gellert, Krys Mathis and Evan Nylander represented UT MBA program at the Concordia University John Molson School of Business MBA International Case Competition in Montreal, 2006. This year marked a return to a winning record for UT at this competition and the team won accolades both for strong performance on the cases and for outstanding spirit and comradery amongst all the other participants! UT MBA team was voted by a majority of the other 35 teams from around the world to receive the Richard Outcault Memorial Team Spirit Award in recognition of our friendliness and enthusiastic support of other teams and of the competition itself. 2006 marks our eleventh consecutive year of participation in this competition and this Spirit Award is a wonderful way to kick-off a new decade of "Tennessee Tradition of Excellence" in Montreal!

The team finished with 3 wins and 2 losses in the five preliminary rounds.

Case #1 vs. Queen's University of Canada ~ UT won by a score of 7 to 4.
Case #2 vs. Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary's University of Canada ~ UT won by a score of 6 to 5.
Case #3: "Live Case" on Cirque du Soleil with different format vs. Richard T. Farmer School of Business at Miami University of Ohio ~ UT defeated by a score of 4 to 7.
Case #4: Short Crisis Management case w/only 1-hour prep time vs.Universität Münster of Germany ~ UT defeated by a score of 3 to 8.
Case #5 vs. Bordeaux Business School of France ~ UT won by a score of 7 to 4.

Eddie Armbrister and Mark Collins, the team coaches, would like to thank Dr. Schuler, the MBA Program faculty and staff, the College of Business, Dean Williams and Dean Gardial for support of the MBA case competition teams and for making this year's trip to Montreal possible.

 

KPMG/George Washington University Not-for-Profit Case Competition, March 17-19, 2006

The George Washington University/KPMG International Not-for Profit Case Competition will be held in Washing, DC March 17-19. GWU hosts 20 schools from around the world at this annual event. UT MBA team will participate in this competition This is UTK's sixth year of participation. Cases at this competition have focused on interesting organizations in the not-for-profit sector, often with far-reaching and international implications such as the International Olympic Committee, the World Bank and the World Resources Institute.
