Suzan Puhl Murphy joined the Finance Department faculty at The University of Tennessee in 1996. As Distinguished Lecturer, she teaches introductory finance and financial statement analysis and is the Assistant to the Department Head.  She is also the faculty advisor for The Financial Management Association and the internship coordinator for undergraduate finance majors. Mrs. Murphy is the 2002 recipient of the Alumni Outstanding Teaching Award at the University of Tennessee, the 2000 recipient of the University of Tennessee Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, the 1999 recipient of the University of Tennessee Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Advising and the Allen H. Keally Award for Excellence in Teaching.  She is also the 1998 recipient of the University of Tennessee CBA Undergraduate Faculty Advising Award and the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Tennessee Kappa Chapter Teacher of the Year Award.  Her professional experience includes twenty years of teaching business and mathematics and five years as a Certified Management Consultant with two international public accounting firms. She holds the Master of Business Administration degree from Loyola University and the Bachelor of Science degree from The University of New Mexico. She has completed graduate work in mathematics at The University of Tennessee.
