Director's Message

Kate AtchleyGreetings from the Executive MBA program at UT! I hope you are well and that your summer is off to a good start. In Knoxville, our basketball season ended too early for our tastes, and now we eagerly are awaiting the debut of our new football coach. The last six months have been a period of significant change for the Executive MBA program, including moving to a new building, gaining a new faculty member, and changing directors.

EMBA Program Office Has Moved

The Executive MBA program office has moved to our new, state-of-the-art Haslam Business Building. When you are passing through Knoxville, please stop by for a tour. The Center for Executive Education is on the fifth and sixth floors. We have fabulous classrooms, team rooms, and administrative offices. Click here for building photos.

New Website

Check out our newly redesigned website at www.semba.utk.edu. We want to thank the Class of 2008 students for letting us use them as models for many of the photos on the site. There also are photos of other classes, as well. We believe that it is important to associate a human face with our program information for prospective students who are considering such an important career step.

Alumni Reunion Weekend

Mark your calendars!

We’re looking forward to hosting alums as well as members of the Class of 2009 on November 7, 2009, for our annual Executive MBA tailgate party, before the Vols play their homecoming.

More details will be emailed to you later this summer.

Global Business Seminar

The 2008 Executive MBA class traveled to Vietnam and Hong Kong for its Global Business Seminar. Several highlights from the trip included a briefing by Procter & Gamble in Ho Chi Minh City; a visit to a Sam’s Club in Shenzhen, China; and a lecture on international economics at Hong Kong University of Science & Technology. It was an incredible learning experience for the class and faculty.

The 2009 EMBA class will be traveling to Warsaw, Poland; Vienna, Austria; and Budapest, Hungary, this September. We’re looking forward to visiting some of our favorite spots in Poland and finding some new favorite spots in Vienna and Budapest.
