UT Alums Inducted Into JA Business Hall of Fame

William "Billy" Carroll Jr.Tim WilliamsTwo UT College of Business Administration alums were inducted into the 2010 Junior Achievement of East Tennessee's Business Hall of Fame on April 8 at the Knoxville Marriott, William "Billy" Carroll Jr., president and CEO of SmartBank, and Tim Williams, co-founder and CEO of 21st Mortgage Corp.

William "Billy" Carroll Jr., a 1990 accounting undergraduate, is president and CEO of SmartBank. His dad, William Y. Carroll Sr., spent 32 years with Citizens National Bank of Sevierville, retiring in 2005 as chairman and CEO. In January 2007, Carroll Jr. and Sr. founded and organized SmartBank in Pigeon Forge, TN; branches since have been opened in Sevierville, Gatlinburg and Knoxville.

Tim Williams, a 1986 accounting undergraduate who returned to UT in 1993 to earn his MBA, is co-founder and CEO of 21st Mortgage Corp. 21st Mortgage is the highest volume lender in the manufactured home industry, with a portfolio totaling $5.6 billion. The company is owned by Berkshire Hathaway Co. and is headquartered in Knoxville
