Leap Welcomed to UT Business Faculty
The College of Business Administration welcomes Terry Leap as the new head of its Department of Management. Leap brings almost 33 years of academic experience to UT as chair of the Department of Management at Clemson University and teaching at Clemson, Louisiana State University (Baton Rouge campus), and the University of Iowa. Leap lectures annually at the University of Siegen in Germany and teaches a graduate course in employment law at the University of Tennessee.
Leap's research interests are in the areas of white-collar crime and deviant behavior in organizations. He is the author of "Phantom Billing, Fake Prescriptions, and the High Cost of Medical Care: Health Care Fraud and What to do About It;" "Dishonest Dollars: The Dynamics of White-Collar Crime;" and "Tenure, Discrimination, and the Courts." He also authored "Collective Bargaining and Labor Relations" and "Personnel/Human Resource Management."
Leap has published articles in publications such as the Academy of Management Journal, Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review, Journal of Management, Industrial Relations, Human Relations, and Industrial and Labor Relations Review.
Prior to joining academia, Leap served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force Medical Service Corps. He received his Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Iowa and holds a master of public health degree and a B.S. in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has been a commercial pilot and is an FAA-certificated flight instructor.
