Global Leadership Scholars Experience Life Across the Pond
The UT College of Business Administration has numerous programs based on students’ special interests. One of its most unique programs, Global Leadership Scholars (GLS), promotes the development of international and intercultural awareness, leadership, personal and professional growth, and responsibility. Through honors classes, seminars in leadership training, international experiences, and extracurricular activities, GLS students work with honors faculty to develop the skills necessary to become future international business leaders. Enrichment opportunities and cultural events complement the honors curriculum, including field trips, exposure to thought-provoking business leaders, team-focused activities, and leadership service to fellow students and the community.
As with all sophomores in the GLS program, this year’s sophomore class is spending spring semester studying abroad in London, England. During the first seven weeks of the semester, students are taking two business courses from residential UT faculty. At the conclusion of the classroom experience, program directors lead the students on a cultural excursion within Europe. Just before spring break, the class will have the opportunity to meet with UT College of Business Administration alumni who are currently based in England along with the college’s dean and other faculty. After spring break, students will be engaged in a full-time internship, which results in credit for half of their international business dual concentration.
Students in the Class of 2013 are blogging about their experiences “across the pond,” including frequent posts and pictures detailing their time abroad. View and follow their blog by visiting http://gls2013.blogspot.com/
