This site is designed to be a repository of information about Self-Directed Learning and a laboratory of discovery about how individuals, especially adults, learn. Included in the site is information for those just beginning a study of adult learning as well as numerous resources for those who are professionals in the field.

Content is clustered around three general themes:

• Orientation - including definitions, historical background, models, research and the practice of self-direction in adult education.
• Links - Online sources for research and learning about SDL.
• Techniques - containing activities and approaches to measure and encourage self-direction in learning.
