Ardle L. Viles-1996 Distinguished Alumnus
When Art Viles received an accounting degree from the University of Tennessee in 1959, he became the first member of his family to graduate from college. He embarked on a remarkable career in accounting, starting at Price Waterhouse in Nashville. He served in a variety of positions at several manufacturing companies throughout Tennessee and North Carolina, becoming chief financial officer of Continental Telephone Company. Eventually, he purchased, operated and sold a portion of the company known as Superior Cable. He generously devotes his time and energy to community and charitable organizations, establishing the John and Manora Viles Scholarship Endowment at the University of Tennessee as a tribute to his parents.
