David E. McKinney-1999 Distinguished Alumnus
David McKinney is president of New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, a position he “trained for” during his 35 years of service at IBM. A Torchbearer and 1956 graduate of the University of Tennessee, McKinney joined IBM and began a multifaceted career that led him from sales representative to president and chief executive officer of the IBM World Trade Europe/Middle East/Africa Corporation. Drawing upon his vast experience with IBM in the U.S., Europe and Asia, McKinney has shared his global business expertise with numerous companies, educational institutions, and civic causes, including the New York Philharmonic, the International Executive Services Corp, and the Thomas J. Watson, Jr. Institute for International Studies.
