John W. Fisher-2003 Distinguished Alumnus
John Fisher is an honorary director and retired chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Ball Corporation. He began his remarkable career with Ball Corporation as a trainee in 1941, became president and chief executive officer in 1970, and retired as chairman of the board in 1986. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee in 1938 and his MBA degree from Harvard Graduate School of Business in 1942. In recognition of his unwavering pursuit of excellence throughout his distinguished career, Fisher has received honorary doctor of law degrees from Ball State University, Butler University, Depauw University and Indiana University. He served two Indiana governors as a member of the Commission for Higher Education.
