John Bolinger-1982 Distinguished Alumnus
John Bolinger’s illustrious business career began at the University of Tennessee, where he was a 1943 graduate of the College of Business Administration. A decorated World War II combat captain, he earned his MBA from Harvard Business School, subsequently landing his first job at Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company in Philadelphia. Bolinger’s career included executive positions for energy and banking corporations in St. Louis, New Orleans, Houston, and Nashville. Returning to Knoxville, he has lent his expertise to numerous national and international organizations in his role as chairman, director, or consultant. A devoted alumnus, Bolinger served the University of Tennessee for 11 years as a guest lecturer, teaching a senior-level policy course on the Knoxville campus.
