Donald J. Bruce

RESEARCH AND ADMINISTRATIVE WORK
Dr. Bruce specializes in empirical research on policy-related topics in public finance and labor economics. Recent work has considered the effects that taxes have on major economic decisions such as buying a home or starting a small business and the impact of electronic commerce on state and local sales tax collections. He coordinates CBER's research efforts on Tennessee's welfare program, Families First, under contract with the Tennessee Department of Human Services. He has also conducted program evaluations for the Metropolitan Social Services office of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.
Dr. Bruce is a member of the American Economic Association, the Southern Economic Association , the Western Economic Association, and the National Tax Association where he served as Program Chair for the NTA's 100th Annual Conference on Taxation. Dr. Bruce has also served on the Board of Directors of the National Association for Welfare Research and Statistics.
