RESEARCH
RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
The University of Tennessee is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Research Associate in the Center for Business and Economic Research. This person should have a strong interest and aptitude for researching economic issues. Responsibilities include conducting statistical analyses of data to include organizing and maintaining databases and preparing analyses, charts, tables, graphs and maps; contacting government agencies and other organizations to request data and other information; presenting research results; and exercising initiative in providing research assistance. Ability to work in a group environment is necessary. The selected candidate must have at least a Bachelor's Degree. Excellent research and quantitative capabilities are required.
Familiarity with programming languages, web script languages is desired, although candidate need not be a programmer. The individual will be expected to develop strong software skills and work on a variety of economic research issues. Solid statistical or econometric skills are desired. Knowledge of GIS software is preferred as well as experience using large, complex databases. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are desired.
The person will participate in research projects by preparing and presenting data analysis as assigned using up-to-date software packages and other tools as necessary. Some interaction with clients is expected. Responsibilities include (but not necessarily limited to) performing statistical analysis, organizing and maintaining databases and presenting research results.
