Morris Becomes Ninth President of Prestigious
Academy of Human Resource Development
KNOXVILLE, TN — Michael Lane Morris, Ph.D., CFLE, human resource development program director and associate professor of management in UT’s College of Business Administration, became the ninth president of the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD). AHRD is the preeminent academic professional organization in the field of human resource development.
“This is an incredible accomplishment for Lane and is a position for which he is extremely worthy,” said Tom Ladd, head of UT’s Department of Management. “His research initiatives addressing the interaction between work and family, and his work with doctoral candidates clearly have differentiated him among his peers.”
This is the third year of Morris’s six-year term, which began as president-elect and conference CEO in 2006. His term as president will end in 2010 when the annual AHRD conference comes to Knoxville. Morris will continue in the role of past-president through 2012.
"I’m looking forward to being president of this prestigious organization," Morris said. “Being president while the national convention is in Knoxville is particularly exciting.”

HRD scholars affiliated with AHRD are some of the leading producers of the cutting-edge research that unleashes an employee’s potential.
Founded in 1993, AHRD encourages the systematic study of human resource development (HRD) theories, processes, and practices; disseminates information about HRD; encourages the application of HRD research findings; and provides opportunities for worldwide social interaction among individuals with scholarly and professional interests in HRD.
