BACKGROUND: Most of us never think about supply chain management during a normal week. As long as there is gas at the pumps, milk and bread on the shelves, and a television set in stock when we are ready to buy, we really have no reason to think about the critical processes that get the products to us that we want and need.
But what happens when economic and/or social conditions cause dramatic cost increases, or there is an earthquake and tsunami in Asia that disrupt supply chain flows? We all become acutely aware of the disruption in global supply chains and how closely they are connected to us.
Stank will discuss the current trends that supply chain management organizations are using to keep products available to us. Stank’s presentation is a part of the University of Tennessee Professional MBA Lunchtime Lecture Series
