UT Doubles Size of Business-dedicated Career Services Staff

As undergraduate enrollment in the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, College of Business Administration has grown more than 50 percent over the past five years, the university’s commitment to advising undergraduates in business is keeping pace. As a result, a second business-dedicated career services consultant, Jessica Geist, has joined UT Career Services.

Jessica GeistGeist received her master’s degree in counseling and student development and bachelor’s degree in personal financial planning from Kansas State University. At UT, she will consult students majoring in accounting, economics, finance, and business analytics. She will work with students in their career development, preparing them for internships and full-time employment, and work with employers and faculty members as part of the process.

Jeannine Berge, the college’s other career consultant, will continue to consult students majoring in marketing, logistics, management, human resource management, and public administration.

At Kansas State, Geist advised hundreds of students each year. Although primarily responsible for advising engineering graduates, she served other students, including those majoring in business. She successfully implemented numerous initiatives such as “Networking Night” at which prospective employers coached undergraduates in networking.

Geist has experience at all levels of student advising from the beginning of their career development through successful placement. She has taught first-year seminars, advised student organizations, helped with fundraising, and was selected to be a Mortar Board National Senior Honor Society Council member.
