Two New Surveys Confirm: UT's Supply Chain / Logistics Programs Among Best in Nation
KNOXVILLE, TN — The University of Tennessee supply chain management/logistics programs rank #4 in the U.S. as published in Supply Chain Management Review, the industry’s most respected executive-oriented publication. These results are corroborated by a recent University of Dayton School of Business survey that nationally ranks the college’s logistics offerings #2.
“These rankings are an excellent reflection of the quality of our students, faculty, curricula, research agenda, industry forums, and real-world expertise,” said Jan Williams, dean of the College of Business Administration. “We are privileged to be ranked a top school among our esteemed group of peer institutions.”
Both of these rankings follow the 2010 U.S. News & World Report rankings in which UT’s undergraduate and graduate supply chain management/logistics curricula were ranked top-10 nationally (top-5 among public universities).
Both academics and practitioners within the supply chain management/logistics field were surveyed for the Supply Chain Management Review ranking. Respondents rated each institution on faculty, research contributions, source for future employees, department reputation, graduate and undergraduate curriculum, alumni visibility, overall university reputation, and continuing education presence. Supporting UT’s #4 national ranking overall, the program ranked #6 nationally among academics and #4 among practitioners.
The University of Dayton research was based on faculty, research contribution, department reputation, graduate and undergraduate curriculum, alumni visibility, college or university reputation, and number of articles published in the eight key transportation and logistics journals.
“With academics valuing research and practitioners valuing curriculum and reputation, we are honored to have excelled in both studies,” said Matt Myers, head of UT’s Department of Marketing and Logistics. “This speaks to the full continuum of supply chain management/logistics tools that we provide our students and partnering organizations in our undergraduate program, graduate programs, executive development programs, and collaborative industry forums.”
The University of Tennessee supply chain management/logistics programs are also top-ranked by affiliations such as BearingPoint (#1 globally for supply chain management education), Transportation Journal (#2 globally for logistics-oriented faculty research), and AMR Research (#5 for delivering industry value).
Garnering impressive rankings for the college in Princeton Review, Forbes, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Modern Healthcare, Public Accounting Report, Journal of Business Logistics, and U.S. News & World Report are the College of Business Administration’s undergraduate curriculum, full-time MBA program, executive-level MBA programs for working professionals, Physician Executive MBA program, and Master of Accountancy and undergraduate accounting programs.
