Students Participate in Campus and Community Cleanup Effort

KNOXVILLE, TN — One hundred and fifty UT freshmen seminar students recently participated in a campus and community cleanup in the UT/Fort Sanders area. (Seminar students are those interested in a field of business as a future major.) Event sponsors included the UT Office of Sustainability, Keep Knoxville Beautiful, Papa Johns pizza, UT College of Business Administration Office of Development, and the UT Center for Executive Education.

Cleanup participantsStudents who participated felt strongly about the value of the program:

“It felt good to give back to my new community here at the University of Tennessee. Through this experience, I learned that the world doesn't revolve around me, and there is plenty of work to do to better our community” --
Cicely Rufus.

“Everyone came together to help out our home, and I very much appreciate it. I learned that if one person comes up with a good idea and has 150 people helping to make that idea thrive, the event will be a success” -- Brandon Cooper

“The campus cleanup was a great way to get inVOLved on the UTK campus. Along with helping to keep our school clean, the cleanup allowed for a fun, out-of-class experience with many of the business students I will be taking classes with over the next few years. I learned that becoming involved on campus is not only easy, but fun” -- Joseph Dean.
