2009 Bank of America Leadership Faculty Award
Matthew Murray
Ball Corporation Professor in Business
Associate Director, Center for Business and Economic Research
Matthew Murray was chosen for his uncompromising work with students, university colleagues, the academic profession, and the community in which he lives. He has chaired the National Tax Association’s annual conference and served on the association’s board of directors. He has a stellar set of academic publications and remains a very steady contributor of research across a diverse set of topics. Improving public policy is the impetus for his research. His policy contributions span countries such as Egypt and Jamaica, subjects such as education and economic development, and topics such as how we integrate the Internet into our economic structure.
He is a frequently sought after speaker for professional programs and is a member of the Blount County Chamber of Commerce, the executive committee of the Blount County Education Initiative, and chairs Blount County’s Industrial Development Board.
