Students with an Undergraduate Degree in an Area Other Than Accounting:

An information revolution is sweeping the world of business and government. Accounting information has often been referred to as the "language of business" and the demand for well trained accounting professionals has never been greater. Today's world markets facilitated by instant communication enhance the importance of the role of accountants.

This curriculum is tailored to provide excellent students possessing undergraduate degrees outside of accounting with the business and accounting knowledge and skills needed to succeed as accounting professionals. Graduate of arts and sciences, engineering, business, and other disciplines who combine their undergraduate knowledge with graduate professional training will be well-positioned to meet the changing demands of business and government. Students entering the program should be computer literate and are expected to have completed coursework in principles of accounting, introductory economics, and the Accounting foundation courses shown above under Prerequisites.  University of Tennessee students who want to take the MAcc prerequisite courses must be seeking an undergraduate degree in accounting.  However, students may enter UT's MAcc program if they have completed comparable prerequisite courses at another college/university.
