Financial Aid and Tuition

Tuition

The University of Tennessee provides quality graduate education in an environment free of unnecessary expense. As of Fall 2011, tuition and fees for full-time graduate study per year is a little more than $11,000 for in-state students and $31,000 for out-of-state students. There is also a $3,000 MAcc program fee, which is spread out over the three semesters. U.S. News & World Report recently ranked the University of Tennessee among the top 10 best buys in higher education. The cost of living in the Knoxville area is significantly less than in most urban or university communities.

Financial Aid

A number of financial aid opportunities are available for students in the Master of Accountancy program, including:

Departmental Scholarships

The Department of Accounting and Information Management awards scholarships on the basis of academic achievement and professional promise.

Teaching or Research Assistantships

Assistantships provide a full-tuition waiver and a monthly stipend in return for teaching or research service. Assistantships pays approximately $5,100 plus tuition per academic year in return for approximately 10 hours per week of supervised teaching or research work. The tuition waiver, however, does not cover certain UT fees and the MAcc program fee. A GTA would serve as a teaching assistant or research assistant to a faculty member or serve as an assistant on special academic projects within the department.

Applying for Departmental Financial Assistance:

To apply for departmental financial assistance, simply check the appropriate boxes on the Program Application. The number of scholarship and assistantships is limited. Applications must be received before March 1 to be considered.
