Karyn Valades joined the faculty of the University of Tennessee after completing her Master of Accountancy degree in 2002. She earned her Bachelor degree in Business from Iona College, New Rochelle, New York in May 1994. While at Iona College, she received the Robert Schoenherr Memorial Award for academic achievement, and humanitarian concern. Since teaching at The University of Tennessee, she has been awarded an Allen H. Keally Teaching Award, 2007 and was a finalist for the Chancellor’s Excellence in Teaching Award. She has worked in various levels of accounting, both public and private and is most interested in federal taxation. She teaches introductory financial and managerial accounting and is the faculty advisor for Beta Alpha Psi.
