The Department of Accounting and Information Management has a goal to provide financial assistance to each doctoral student for the period of time normally required to complete the program (including the dissertation). All students wanting financial assistance must apply. The graduate assistantships pay a competitive amount and carry a waiver of both in-state and out-of-state tuition. Students must pay a nominal activities fee at the time of registration. The assistantships usually require teaching six semester hours of an accounting course at the elementary level or serving as a research assistant to faculty members. Continuing assistantships are contingent on satisfactory performance and progression in the program. Doctoral students are encouraged to apply for other forms of financial assistance offered by the University, the College of Business Administration, and various non-university sources.
