The Master of Accountancy program in Fall of 2007 has 72 students – 52 in assurance, 20 in tax.
The academic background shows 75% from the University of Tennessee, and 25% from other undergraduate accounting programs.
Other undergraduate schools represented are Tennessee Tech (2), Rhodes(2), Tulane, Texas Tech, Florida State, South Carolina, Winthrop, ETSU, King, St. Louis, Appalachian State, Salem, Central Florida, and Mississippi College.
32 students have Graduate Teaching Assistant positions in the department, while at least 5 have other GTA jobs on campus.
But admitting only high-quality students is not enough. Students are challenged to develop critical thinking, an awareness of the broad issues facing the accounting profession, and the ability to communicate.
The result is a superior student who is not only prepared to face current issues in the profession, but who is also capable of recognizing new challenges and developing strategies to meet them.
