- B. S. (Applied Mathematics), 1974, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Mexico City.
- M. S. (Statistics and Operations Research), 1980, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Mexico City.
- Ph. D. (Statistics), 1985, Virginia Tech. Dissertation: Collinearity and Influential Observations.
Experience:Statistician at an agricultural experimental station in Northern México for four years. Taught statistics and mathematics in México at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana and the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey. Faculty member at UT's Department of Statistics since January, 1986. Since 1989 statistical consulting to the UT Medical Research Center. Since 1992 member of UT's Management Development Center teaching and developing courses in Statistical Thinking and Design of Experiments to participants from industry. Instructor in a customized course for Eli Lilly and Co. Consultant for many organizations, including Wimberly and Lawson Attorneys in Law (expert witness), Georgia-Pacific (resin, particleboard), Anchor Advance Products (plastics), GDC/Keystone (wirecloth), and Carolina Precast Concrete.
Author of 15 articles in refereed publications in statistics and other subject matter areas.
National coordinator of the 1996 Undergraduate Data Analysis Contest.
Professional Interests:
- The development and application of statistical techniques to improve processes
- The dissemination of statistical knowledge and its use in industry, medicine, and society in general.
- Application of regression models, including linear, nonlinear, generalized additive, and robust.
