What is statistical engineering?

Statistical engineering is defined as the integration of statistical and engineering analysis concepts.

What does the Institute for Statistical Engineering do?

UT's Institute for Statistical Engineering serves industry, university faculty, and graduate students by providing education, customized workshops, and consulting in statistical thinking as it relates to industry.  The primary focus of ISE is to aid in the improvement of manufacturing processes through the use of analytical methods. Workshops are tailored to clients' individual needs and are composed of three components: Pre-workshop consultation, the workshop, and post-workshop assistance.   Before the workshop is developed, members of ISE will visit your facility and/or dicuss specific production issues.  This ensures that methods discussed and examples presented during the workshop will be applicable to your areas of need.  After the workshop, ISE offers continued support and consulting to help you reach your goal of an improved process.  In addition the the services ISE offers to industry, it provides research and practical opportunities to graduate students and faculty.
