About Us:
Mary G. Leitnaker is a professor of statistics in the Department of Statistics, Operations, and Management Science. In addition to her role teaching and directing research, she was the course owner of the Practical Strategies for Process Improvement course as well as the Design of Experiments course. She has also developed numerous custom courses in process improvement for a wide variety of industries including the paper, pharmaceutical, electronic, and food industries.
Maria Weese received her bachelor's in chemical enineering from Virginia Tech in 2001. She immediately began work as a process improvement engineer where she earned her Six Sigma Green Belt. This introduction to statistical thinking for process improvement led her to further her statistical training at the University of Tennessee where she received a master's degree in statistics in 2006. While pursuing her master's degree, she worked as a statistical consultant for the University of Tennessee's Statistical Consulting Center. Maria Weese is now a Ph.D .candidate (expected graduation May 2010) with particular research interest in industrial statistics applications.
